One of our associates is an experienced consultant in child and adolescent psychiatry and would be prepared to see for assessment and treatment young people in this age group, with their parents, where appropriate.
Help can be offered regarding a wide range of problems: Attention Deficit disorders, hyperkinesis, anorexia, depressions and phobias in adolescence, psychosomatic disorder (including recurrent headaches and post viral fatigue syndrome) and parenting difficulties.
Young adulthood can be a time of great challenge. The need to find a sense of belonging in the adult world when supportive structures such as family and friends are less available can be a very difficult experience. It is a time when many emotional problems emerge. These can endure throughout adulthood if left unaddressed.
Young person's groups offer a place to belong while learning to communicate, share and resolve problems within an analytic framework which deepens our understanding of the complexity of human relationships. The groups can be helpful to people with a wide range of problems including:
* Psychiatric disorders
* Eating disorders
* Substance or alcohol abuse
* Low self-esteem
* Identity problems
* Interpersonal problems
* Relationship issues
* Sexual problems
* Emotional difficulties
