JOIN A GROUP

As development and change occur in a social context, groups are a natural setting in which to offer therapy. In the supportive atmosphere of the group, members can address a wide range of personal, family, work and relationship issues.

Groups are held once or twice weekly for an hour and a half and are conducted by an experienced group analyst. There are up to eight group members. There is no set agenda but often issues brought by group members can mirror helpful connections in each other's lives. The group may often represent families and other relevant groups and enable members to work through things that arise within these contexts.

Prospective group members are offered an assessment for the group which includes seeing a psychiatrist at the Practice.

The groups meet for approximately forty weeks a year and there are set holidays at Christmas, Easter, August and at half-terms. It is important to attend regularly and on time and if unable to attend, a message should be left in the office.

Confidentiality should be respected at all times. Contact between group members should not occur outside the group and if it does, this should be discussed in the group. Most group members make a commitment of at least two years and when wishing to leave, this should be discussed in the group and a minimum period of four weeks notice given in order to work on the ending.
