Dr. Jason Maratos

D.P.M., M.Phil., M.Inst.G.A., M.R.C.Psych.

Jason Maratos trained in general psychiatry in London, mainly at The London and St Bartholomew's Hospitals and completed his specialist training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Royal Free and University College Hospitals; he has also worked as registrar in neurology at St Bartholomew's Hospital. In parallel to his medical and psychiatric training he completed his training in Group Analysis and is recognised by the Institute of Group Analysis for the training of the new generation of Group Analysts (Training Group Analyst and Tutor). He is registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).

Jason Maratos has worked in the NHS for 30 years of which 23 as a consultant. He has lectured in Britain and overseas   (Italy, Greece and Brazil) in the field of psychiatry and psychotherapy and has published a number of articles and chapters in books internationally.   He has been called to act as professional and expert witness in County Courts and at the High Court.

Since his retirement from the NHS, his base has been the Group-Analytic Practice where he has been active in promoting a number of educational activities as its academic secretary. His main activity is the provision of group analysis, psychiatric assessment and treatment to adults as well as to children and adolescents. He is particularly interested in transcultural issues, psychosomatic conditions and concerned that medico-legal assessments be also therapeutic, when this is necessary, as in the case of conflict between divorcing parents or protracted symptomatology following trauma.
